Dear Readers and Followers:
For me, poetry has always meant self-discovery, be it haiku or the other forms that I write.
I contemplate where I am, where I’ve been, and where I am going through poetry. I get in touch with my emotions, find my spirit of adventure, and marvel at nature and the people and places around me. It is an odyssey.
Whether at home or far from it, I always find myself jotting down a poem. Recently, I sailed the Mississippi River from Dubuque, IA to Illinois, and the scenery–majestic bluffs, pelicans, egrets, and eagles– inspired me to write several haiku and a couple of long poems.
I invite you to share your thoughts on why you write poetry during the next few days, and I will mention them in a blog. A sentence or two, or a paragraph is fine.
Please also include anything interesting about yourself, such as what you do for a living, books you’ve authored, and how and when you discovered poetry.
Thanks for your participation, and best wishes for all your writing successes.
