Below is a prose poem from Richard Allen Taylor’s Armed and Luminous, his book that I recently reviewed for this blog. https://charlottedigregorio.wordpress.com/2020/08/29/just-what-we-need-thoughtful-and-humorous-poetry-about-angels/
Snapshot of Hospital Patient Eating Lunch
by Richard Allen Taylor
The day you should have died, I took this photo
as you shimmied past no chance of recovery,
sat up, ate the green hospital Jell-O, and said
guess how many angels watch over me?
You saw them, a stadium full, rowdy and white-robed,
and heard them sing to you in flawless harmony,
Ain’t no big deal, Man, we do this for everybody.
