Susan Lee Kerr of the UK has released “The Walk Home,” a collection of her haiku, senryu, and tanka. You won’t want to miss this one, as it is filled with beautiful, striking imagery, moments of revelation and wonder, and fresh expression. Simplicity, yet elegance, as the Japanese forms highlight.

Kerr masterfully invites the reader into the natural world. Her writing style, observations, and insights are accessible to all.

The Collection’s book cover, created by Meg Kaczyk, the poet’s artist-sister, complements the simplicity and elegance of the poetry within.

miles inland

gull cries carry the sea

to me

snow garden

along the back fence a fox

walks on tiptoes

grey twilight

a crack of orange

seams earth to sky

awaiting the light

closed red lips

of tulips

French horn

his big round wrist watch

as he plays

•••••••••••

Tanka

the water meadow

mist, rain and a slanting man

with his umbrella

fills me with nostalgia

for a place I’ve never been
